鸡在中国素来有“德禽”之称，《韩诗外传》记载：“鸡有五德：头戴冠者，文也；足搏距者，武也；敌在前，敢斗者，勇也；见食相呼者，仁也；守夜不失者，信也”。由于古代的帝王需要借鸡的五种自然天性宣扬人的五种道德品性，所以与鸡相关的绘画在中国艺术史中多有出现。因“鸡”音同“吉”，又赋予了鸡很深的文化韵味，故名大吉图。从古至今，画鸡，算得上是中国画的重要题材之一，经久不衰。
本次藏品《大吉图》为宣和画院御制，宣和画院指宋代宣和年间的翰林图画院，“宣和”指宋徽宗的年号，并不是画院名字。北宋徽宗在政治上是一个昏庸无能的皇帝，但在艺术上是有作为的，他喜好书画艺术，广集画家，创立了宣和画院，培养了一批杰出的画家。对于宋代画院的建设和院体画的发展，对于书画艺术的提倡和创作，以及对于古代艺术的整理与保存，宋徽宗是有突出贡献的。赵佶擅长绘工笔花鸟，风格写实缜密，并由于他的倡导，使宋代工笔花鸟画登上了艺术最高峰。
Chickens have always been known as "virtuous birds" in China. The "Han Shi Wai Zhuan" records: "Chickens have five virtues: those who wear a crown on their head are literate; those who fight with great distance are martial; those who dare to fight when the enemy is in front are brave; those who call out for food are benevolent; those who keep watch at night are trustworthy. Due to the need of ancient emperors to use the five natural instincts of chickens to promote the five moral qualities of humans, paintings related to chickens have appeared frequently in Chinese art history. Due to the fact that "chicken" has the same pronunciation as "auspicious" and gives it a deep cultural charm, it is named Da Ji Tu. From ancient times to the present, painting chickens can be considered one of the important themes in Chinese painting, which has been enduring for a long time.
The collection of 'Da Ji Tu' in this time is made by the Xuanhe Painting Academy, which refers to the Hanlin Painting Academy during the Xuanhe period of the Song Dynasty. 'Xuanhe' refers to the year name of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, not the name of the painting academy. Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty was a mediocre and incompetent emperor in politics, but he had achievements in art. He loved calligraphy and painting, collected a wide range of painters, founded the Xuanhe Academy of Painting, and trained a group of outstanding painters. Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty made outstanding contributions to the construction of painting academies and the development of courtyard paintings, the promotion and creation of calligraphy and painting art, and the organization and preservation of ancient art. Zhao Ji excels in meticulous flower and bird painting, with a realistic and meticulous style. Due to his advocacy, Song Dynasty meticulous flower and bird painting reached the pinnacle of art.

近期我公司征集了一幅《大吉图》，长427cm、宽43cm，全图设色艳丽，绘芙蓉，芙蓉枝头微微下垂，朵朵异中有同，变化多姿。数只五彩锦鸡，体态自然，顾盼有情，比较生动地描写了锦鸡的动态。这种表现形式，在宋代花鸟画中很是流行。五彩锦鸡、芙蓉、虽然均为华丽的题材，但如此构图便不同于一般装饰，而充满了活趣。加以双勾笔力挺拔，色调秀雅，线条工细沉着，渲染填色薄艳娇嫩，细致入微。锦鸡、花鸟，皆精工而不板滞，实达到了工笔画中难以企及的形神兼备、富有逸韵的境界。劳伦斯·西克曼在《中国的艺术和中国的建筑》一书中曾说，宋代的画写实技巧以“魔术般的写实主义”给人以非凡的诱惑力。宋徽宗提倡诗、书、画、印结合。他创作时，常以诗题、款识、签押、印章巧妙地组合成画面的一部分。这成为元、明以后绘画派传统特征。

Several colorful golden pheasants, with a natural posture and affectionate glances, vividly depict the dynamics of the golden pheasant. This form of expression was very popular in Song Dynasty flower and bird paintings. Although the colorful golden pheasant and hibiscus are all magnificent themes, their composition is different from ordinary decorations and full of liveliness. The double hook strokes are strong and straight, with elegant tones, delicate and composed lines, and the rendering and filling colors are thin, delicate, and meticulous. Jinji and Huaniao are both exquisite and not rigid, achieving a realm of both form and spirit, rich in charm, that is difficult to achieve in meticulous painting. Lawrence Sickman once said in his book "Chinese Art and Chinese Architecture" that the realistic techniques of painting in the Song Dynasty gave people extraordinary allure with "magical realism". Emperor Huizong of Song advocated the combination of poetry, calligraphy, painting, and printing. When he created, he often cleverly combined poem titles, inscriptions, signatures, and seals into a part of the picture. This became a traditional feature of the painting school after the Yuan and Ming dynasties.

画面中，锦鸡羽毛斑斓华贵，造型推敲有度，用笔考究，充分体现出它珍禽的特点。作者用笔果敢、有力，锦鸡浑身的羽毛则用细碎的笔调勾出其质感和生长方向。头部羽毛用细笔拉出丝丝毛茸茸的感觉；翅膀羽毛用墨笔晕染出浓淡层次；尾部羽毛长而硬，密而不乱。用色上更为丰富，在鸡的面部和颈后羽毛上铺厚薄不同的白色，有提醒画面的作用。作者是想借鸡的五种自然天性宣扬人的五种道德品性。即颂扬儒家文、武、勇、仁、信这五种伦理品德。左下的芙蓉花与叶都玲珑又精致，既丰富了全图的线条，又与整幅画的艺术风格十分和谐。此画设色浓丽，晕染细腻，传达出皇家的雍容富贵气派，确实是一幅错过难得的珍品。
