    印鉴:林 则徐 款识:丙寅年三月,少穆林则徐。

    林则徐(1785~1850),字少穆,晚号竢邨、俟村退叟、七十二峰退叟、瓶泉居士、栎社散人等,是清朝时期的政治家、思想家和诗人,福建侯官人。二十岁中举,嘉庆十六年进士。历任编修、监察御史、江苏巡抚、湖广总督等职,两次受命钦差大臣;因其主张严禁鸦片,在中国有民族英雄之誉。林则徐一生遍历地方,治绩卓著。虽在两广抗击西方入侵,但对于西方的文化、科技和贸易则持开放态度,主张学其优而用之。由他主持编译的《四洲志》及魏源编撰的《海国图志》,对晚清的洋务运动乃至日本的明治维新都具有启发作用。

    林则徐工诗词、擅书法。书法初学欧阳询,旁涉柳公权、董其昌,上溯王羲之、王献之父子。楷书用笔遒劲,风格典雅,意态俊逸,风神潇洒,大字尤佳。林则徐书法的主要成就是行草,而又以《集王圣教序》为基本路数,通篇秀劲乃其可贵之处。同时,从他的楷书作品亦足可见其功力。林则徐于道光七年(1827年)在西安藩署时曾撰《跋沈毅斋墨迹》,其中说:“初学临摹辄舍唐人矩范而躐等于钟张羲献,是犹未能立而使之疾行,僵卧必矣。”他主张书法初学,应从唐帖入手。 实际上,林则徐并没有忽视“取法乎上”的传统共识,其楷书不拘泥于某家框架,也并不纯然是唐人的规矩,还在点划使转之间偶尔透露出晋人的风度,愈是晚期之作愈如此。他的书法取势,端重安详,绝无矫揉造作的气息。

Because of his advocacy of strictly prohibiting opium, he is known as a national hero in China. Lin Zexu traveled throughout his life and made outstanding achievements in governance. Although they fought against Western invasion in Guangdong and Guangxi, they maintained an open attitude towards Western culture, technology and trade, advocating learning from their best and using them. The "Four Continents" compiled by him and the "Hai Guo Tu Zhi" compiled by Wei Yuan were inspiring to the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty and even Japan's Meiji Restoration.

    Lin Zexu is good at poetry and calligraphy. Ouyang Xun, a beginner in calligraphy, was involved in Liu Gongquan and Dong Qichang, and traced back to Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi's father and son. Regular script has a vigorous brushwork, elegant style, handsome mood, and graceful style, especially large characters. The main achievement of Lin Zexu's calligraphy is cursive cursive calligraphy, and using the "Preface to the Sacred Teachings of Ji Wang" as the basic method, the elegance of the whole text is its valuable feature. At the same time, his skill in regular script can also be seen from his regular script works. When Lin Zexu was in the Xi'an vassal office in the seventh year of Daoguang (1827), he wrote the "Postscript of Shen Yizhai's Ink Blossoms", which said: "When you first learn to copy, you will leave the Tang Dynasty's rules and regulations and follow the rules of Zhang Xixian, but you still can't stand up and make it move quickly. , you will have to lie down stiffly." He advocated that beginners of calligraphy should start with Tang Dynasty calligraphy. In fact, Lin Zexu did not ignore the traditional consensus of "taking the law first". His regular script did not stick to the framework of a certain family, nor was it purely a rule of the Tang Dynasty. He occasionally revealed the demeanor of a Jin Dynasty between dots and strokes.
